Reduce Stress Naturally

For almost everyone stress is a part of their daily life. Often pressures build throughout the day as you cope with the stress of family, work, finances and more. You feel the effects of stress on the body such as muscles tightening in your neck and back, the beginning of a tension headache, and your mood changing as stressors mount and tension builds.

Although there are many different ways to relieve stress naturally, not every method works for every person. Just as everyone reacts to stress in their own way, they also react to stress relieving methods differently. Think of the things you enjoy the most or try something new as you find natural stress reliever methods that quickly melt away the tension leaving you feeling relaxed, calm, and refreshed.

Soak Away Your Tension

Feel the tension melt away as you relax in a beautiful hot bubble bath or a relaxing tub scented with your favorite aromatherapy oils. Put on a favorite soothing CD and light scented candles, such as lavender or chamomile, to increase your sensory pleasures and reduce the built up stress.

Another great place to soak away your tension is in a hot tub. The wonderful combination of the warm water and the massage of the jets is almost magical as you feel the stress and tension being released from your body.

Meditate

A wonderful natural way to relieve stress is meditation. There are many different types of meditation, each one resulting in a release from stress. Even a short meditation session reduces stress effectively and naturally.

Get a Massage

Massage is a natural way to relieve stress that can be done in many ways. If there is no one to give you a massage, use your hand to rub the tension out of your shoulders and neck. Another great method of self massage is putting two or three tennis balls into a sock. Tie the ends closed and place the sock between your back and a wall. As you slowly move, the balls will gently massage your back. This also works well on your neck and feet.

If there is someone to give you a massage, that is even better. Use warmed scented massage oils for a more relaxing feeling. If finances permit, treat yourself to a massage from a licensed therapist.

Deep Breathing: A Natural Stress Reliever

Deep breathing is one of the easiest ways to naturally manage stress. Take a few slow deep breaths and feel the stress subside. A simple deep breathing technique is taking a deep breath in through your nose as you mentally count to four then hold the breath to the count of two. Exhale slowly to the count of six.

Reduce stress naturally using simple yoga breathing techniques. You will become aware of your breaths as you concentrate on the rise and fall of your abdomen.

Naturopathic and Homeopathic Remedies

Many people find natural stress relief using naturopathic and homeopathic remedies. Although the two have many differences, they are both considered alternative methods.

A popular naturopathic stress reliever is Bach Flower Therapy. Two other naturopathic methods of relieving stress are aromatherapy and color therapy.

Homeopathic remedies are usually one herb or a mixture of herbs that help the body to relax including:

  • Valerian
  • St. John’s Wort
Relax with chamomile tea.
  • Chamomile
  • Kava Kava
